In keeping with the Arthur Erickson Foundation’s objective to: inspire future generations to seek, as Arthur Erickson did, the deep understanding and aesthetic that informs great design, the AEF is actively developing awards and scholarships.
Last May, the AEF was pleased to award for the first time the $5,000 Arthur Erickson Travel Study Award, which was won by Heba Maleki of the University of British Columbia School of Architecture. This award was created and is administered in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts and the Erickson family. The Erickson family wishes to thank in particular Western Living Magazine which has, through its Western Living Designers of the Year event, generously contributed to the Arthur Erickson Fund for Excellence that supports this scholarship. The scholarship is now open to all Canadian architectural students.
If you’re a Canadian architecture student finishing your master’s degree and want to be nominated by your school for this scholarship, ask the head of your school about it. If you believe in the enriching power of travel and want to support this scholarship, go to donate and indicate Arthur Erickson Travel Study Scholarship.
Another significant award for a practicing architect is currently in development, and we’ll tell you more as soon as we can!
